Elektricitet från sol- och vindkraft börjar bli slagkraftigt

Give A Shit About Nature (GASAN) är en nyhetssida på Facebook som varje dag delar både positiva och negativa nyheter gällande miljön. Idag såg jag en rubrik som verkligen fick mig intresserad och gav mig lite extra hopp inför framtiden - "U.S. Energy Secretary: Solar and wind energy now cost-competitive without subsidies" Artikeln som kommer från Treehugger förklarar att USA's energiminister Ernest Moniz tror att priserna på electricitet från sol- och vindkraft har sjunkit så pass mycket att marknaden för dem inom en snar framtid kommer kunna växa utan subventioner. Priset på el från vindkraft har t.ex. på vissa ställen i USA minskat från 7 cent/kWh år 2009 till 2,35 cent/kWh år 2014. Det innebär att el från vindkraft skulle kunna vara konkurrenskraftig gentemot el från naturgas redan år 2040.

Today they shared an article which title really caught my eye and gave me some extra hope for the future - "U.S. Energy Segretary: Solar and wind energy now cost-competitive without subsidides". The article, which is published on Treehugger explains that the Energy Secretary of the United States, Ernest Moniz, believes thtat the cost of electricity from solar and wind power has decreased so much that the market soon will be able to grow without any subsidies. The price on electricity has in some places in the U.S. decreased from 7 cents/kWh in 2009 to 2.35 cents/kWh in 2014. This means that electricity from wind power could be competitive to natural gas power plants in 2040.
